ABOUT US
Empowering Stronger Families, Building Resilient and Thriving Communities
Established in 2006 as a 501C-3 organization, New Beginnings Community Development Corporation (NBCD) is grounded in the core values of love and confidentiality. Our unwavering mission is to create resilient and thriving communities where every family's needs are not just met, but exceeded. We are committed to providing practical knowledge that fosters generational wealth, breaks the cycles of mental illness, addiction, violence, poverty, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, and neglect. Our dedication knows no bounds, transcending age, ethnicity, gender, race, and social status.

At NBCD, we empower individuals by nurturing strong families and communities, instilling positive self-images, and reinforcing the importance of robust family units. Our proactive approach begins as early as the 7th grade, with a focus on reshaping mindsets regarding wealth, finances, credit, and investments.

Additionally, we offer transitional housing, halfway homes, group housing, and Section 8 accommodation to provide a fresh start through New Beginnings Community Development's real estate investment management arm, A&P 8-Global Management LLC.

OUR FOUNDER AND CEO
Meet Yolanda
Yolanda Crenshaw, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, is a distinguished alumna of Tuskegee University, where she earned her B.S. degree in Chemistry. In 2006, she embarked on an inspiring journey by founding New Beginnings Community Development and taking the helm as its visionary CEO.

New Beginnings Community Development is a beacon of hope, dedicated to the restoration and cultivation of positive self-images for individuals of all walks of life - women, men, teens, singles, and spanning generations. What sets this organization apart is its holistic approach, delivering practical guidance for healing the spirit, nurturing the soul, enhancing physical well-being, strengthening social connections, and empowering financial independence.

Yolanda's passion ignites the core of New Beginnings, focused on breaking the chains of vicious cycles through an innovative mentorship program called "Restoration and Empowerment." This transformative initiative was launched over a decade ago for adults and has since spread its wings, infiltrating Jefferson County schools, colleges, and neighboring communities for the past six years. Collaborating closely with principals, teachers, counselors, and directly impacting students, Yolanda and her team ignite the flame of positive self-perception, fostering dynamic decision-making abilities.
Central to this visionary endeavor is the cultivation of creativity and authenticity, empowering each participant to envision themselves on a purpose-driven trajectory, breaking free from the constraints of negative circumstances. Notably unconventional, this program extends its steadfast support to students until the age of 25, ensuring a nurturing environment for personal growth.

Yolanda's unwavering commitment to her mission is vividly illustrated through the transformation of countless lives, validated by an array of testimonies and inspiring success stories. The adult mentorship program, a cornerstone of New Beginnings, has yielded first-time homebuyers, rekindled marriages, and restored families across the nation.

In the capable hands of Yolanda Crenshaw, New Beginnings Community Development embodies the power of positive change and serves as a testament to the extraordinary impact one individual can have on the lives of many.
